winston-salem children's photography: cara & katelyn

I enjoyed a perfect Fall evening with Katelyn, Cara and family a few weeks ago. You might remember Katelyn and Cara from our previous session. It is amazing how much kids change in just 3 short months! These two are the most beautiful little girls.

Cara is walking like a pro now where she was just pulling to standing when I last spent time with her.

I love the one on the left - she looks like such a little lady.

The eyes on both of these girls just get me every time I see them - amazing.

It was Cara's first birthday so we had to celebrate with some cupcakes. What a perfect way to reward these girls for a great session!

Happy birthday Cara!

Thanks again for a great afternoon!

winston-salem children's photography: tj

Last week I met up with five-year-old TJ on the grounds of Reynolda House. TJ is a great kid with a sweet smile and beautiful eyes. We spent some time checking out a few of his favorite places at the Reynolda House including some great locations for shooting that I hadn't explored.

It was a while before TJ was comfortable sharing his adorable grin with me but fortunately he has an awesome serious look. Love it.

We finished up with some races on the lawn. While this image isn't perfect I love it anyway. The slight blur of his motion and the smile at being set free to run just make me happy.

Nothing better to wrap up than some bubbles.

Thanks TJ, Kathy and Walt for a fun evening!

winston-salem children's photography: cara

Cara is the beautiful little sister of Katelyn who was one of my first independent children sessions more than two and a half years ago. It was fun seeing Katelyn again and meeting her little sister. These two are very close in age to my own children and I loved watching them interact. Seeing the smiles Cara held back just for her big sister. Watching Katelyn help her sister with a cup of tea and drag a rocking chair more than twice her size across the porch at Tanglewood's Manor House to sit right next to her baby sister. Seeing the love between the two of them that will only grow as they do. Thank you Jill and Jason for sharing your girls for the afternoon!

These girls both have the most amazing eyes.

An impromptu summer tea party in the grass...

I love that Cara sucks her thumb. My daughter is also a thumb sucker and spending time shooting Cara made me realize I don't always need to pull her thumb out of her mouth for pictures because sucking her thumb is a part of who she is right now.

I LOVE when babies are starting to pull up. They always seem to end up on their tip-toes.

Cara was curious about everything. The leaves. The sticks. The table leg. Personally I saw nothing special about the table leg but I adore her cute little baby legs squatting so carefully.

Thank you to the Murphy family for a fun afternoon. I look forward to seeing you again soon!

pittsburgh wedding photography: ashley & eric - part II

We continued the day with a short just married session for Ashley & Eric while the bridal party headed to the reception.

This is probably my favorite shot from this part of the day.

And I love the angle my husband had and the expression of contentment on Eric's face.

Reception fun coming soon!

pittsburgh wedding photography: ashley & eric - part I

Home. Family. Friends. In a conversation with Eric before the wedding he listed these as the things that are the most important to him and Ashley. It didn't take long to see that these two really mean it. Their big day had them surrounded by family and friends and the dreams of their home together. It was a day filled with laughter and love and celebration. The kind of laughter and love and celebration that will follow them through life. Because these two understand that home is her hand in his. That a promise made on a sunny June day has joined them as family. That they have pledged to spend all their days loving their best friend. Ashley and Eric, I wish you all the best.

We joined the girls at the Sheraton Station Square where they were getting ready. With 10 bridesmaids, a junior bridesmaid and Ashley's mom there was a lot of love in that hotel room.

Ashley, you are stunning.

After spending some time in Station Square with the girls we headed to Christ United Methodist Church in Bethel Park. The ceremony was in the worship garden and it was a gorgeous day for an outside wedding.

This little man was rocking the bubbles.

The bridal party caravan headed to Jefferson Memorial Cemetery for group shots. This group was a lot of fun and you could tell they really love Ashley and Eric.

Finally we stole some time with Ashley and Eric for their just married session. Check back soon for those!
